All Wood Cabinets

What do we mean when we say we build “All Wood” cabinets?  Let me show you a typical Chateau Mill cabinet, and then we can talk about options and other materials down below.

Here is a typical cabinet I just pulled from the shipping room.  It’s  a pretty good example of the typical Chateau Mill Cabinet:

Text Box: Unfinished side:
1/2” Baltic Birch ply
Text Box: Shelf (adjustable or fixed):
1/2” or 3/4” Baltic Birch ply
Also may match exterior finished ply if exposed
Text Box: Bottom (and tops of wall cabinets):
1/2” Baltic Birch ply
Also may match exterior finished ply if exposed
Text Box: Toe kick
Match exterior ply or solid wood
Text Box: Drawer sides and back:
Typically 1/2” Baltic Birch ply
Could also be solid wood - see more on the Drawer Construction page
Text Box: Finished side:
This one is solid wood but finished sides are typically a veneer core ply that matched the face wood. (We can’t buy cedar plywood so this cabinet has a solid side) Sides could also be panelized or have an applied false door.
Text Box: Face Frame: Solid wood. For more on Face frames, see the Cabinet Construction page.
Text Box: Drawer faces: Solid wood.
Drawer faces can be a single piece as shown here or a panel face, similar to a cabinet door. For more on drawers see the Drawer Construction page
Text Box: Doors: Solid wood
Although sometimes recessed panels can be made from 1/4” plywood. For more information on doors see the Door Construction page.

Solid wood, plywood, particle board, oh my…..

(This page is somewhat lengthy but covers the many wood products available for cabinet construction, and why Chateau Mill chooses to use the materials we do.)

Text Box: Unfinished back:
1/4” Baltic Birch ply
